Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the latest in a trilogy including Deus Ex and the largely underrated Deus Ex: Invisible War. The series refined the cyberpunk theme and brought it to gamers who had never played games such as System Shock or Shadowrun. The newest installment, which has been returned to the hands of the original developer, Eidos, is a prequel to the first game and features Adam Jensen, a security guard for Sarif Industries, a company involved in developing biomechanical augmentations. After a near-fatal attack on the company by forces unknown, Adam's life is saved through a surgery endowing him with some of these augmentations. From there, things only become more suspicious, and it is left to Adam to discover just what is going on. Look for this amazing experience in February 2011. Here's some videos to tide you guys over.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

If you don't like Harry Potter, you had a very unfulfilled childhood or adolescence. The first installment of the last "film" comes out November 19, 2010, and so far, it looks awesome. Here's the first two trailers.

Life Takes You Places

Look at this mountain valley. I want to be in this valley by this time next year. I want to breathe in the cold, crisp, CLEAN air. Look out over the tiny valley as I backpack my way to my next destination. For a couple of years, now, I've been planning a backpacking trip through Europe. Currently, I'm a freshman in college, and I want to have this experience before I'm done. I don't know what I'll be doing after I graduate. What if I'm too busy with work, or internships? It's impossible to tell what the future holds, so I need to seize the moment, carpe diem, and get there as soon as possible. I have a basic itinerary planned, and I know that it'll cost me upwards of $5,000 to get there, back, and pay for room and board and food. With my family's military benefits, I get a nice, fat stipend each month, so if I save it, I'll be able to afford it. But who will I travel with? A couple of friends have committed to the trip, but if something happens, I'm just as thrilled and simultaneously terrified at the thought of making the expedition on my own. Anyways, here's a couple of pictures from my research of places I'll Be visiting.

Bioshock: Infinite

With the success of Bioshock and its sequel, Bioshock II, it looks like 2K Games is teaming up once again with original developer Irrational Games to bring a new take on the Bioshock universe to the players. Columbia, a floating utopia in the sky, looks like the epitome of a powerful and nationalist city; but as it so often happens, things are not what they seem.

Scheduled for a 2012 release date, it looks like gamers will have to wait a bit longer to test their new Plasmids, which appear to be making a return. While waiting, you can drool over the beautiful new graphics in these videos.

Official trailer

And this, a 10-minute gameplay teaser.

Jon Stewart vs. Bill O'Reilly

I love how Bill O'Reilly manages to come off as looking like an idiot in any situation. I highly doubt "stoner slackers" care enough about Jon Stewart to comprise 40% of his viewer base.

Star Wars

Everyone has a little bit of Star Wars geek in them. It's undeniable. There's always a love story connected to it - whether you were in line to see the original release, your parents bought you the VHS box set when it was re-released, or you were intrigued by the releases of the new trilogy. Here are some sites to help feed that inner geek.

1. Wookieepedia - A collection of all canon and non-canon Star Wars information. If you've ever wanted to know the heirarchy of the Galactic Empire or what happened after the Death Star II was destroyed, this site is more than enough to educate you.

2. StarWarsShop.com - Toasters that burn an image of Darth Vader's face into the bread. 'Nuff said.

3. Jedi Trainer Lightsaber Flash Game - All the fun of using a lightsaber, none of the burny, cutty pain.

4. Ryan vs. Dorkman II -  This Star Wars fan film is a depiction of a lightsaber duel between two combatants, with no explanation given. I like to assume that one has stolen the other's Darth Vader toaster.

5. Jedi Gym - Another fan film, this one is much lighter in tone, and infinitely more hilarious.
